Born in Clones, Co. Monaghan, Fr Paschal grew up in Co. Antrim and attended St. Mary’s CBS, Belfast. His ordination in 1962 just preceded Vatican II, an occasion which greatly influenced his missionary life. He served in three countries in west Africa: Nigeria, until the end of the Biafran War, where his first appointment was to a teaching role in Nsukka; Sierra Leone where he held several pastoral roles; and The Gambia. Having spent two years in Ardbraccan, he moved to Australia in the late 1990s. Based in Western Australia, he has been one of a group of three Irish Spiritans in the country and is one of a total of nine surviving confrères from the 1962 Ordination Year.

He retires to Ireland in May 2022 and in June will celebrate the 60th anniversary of his ordination.
