Congratulations to Fr Reggie Gillooly C.S.Sp. who celebrated his 100th birthday on 15th January 2025. He is the first member of the Province to have reached this milestone since the late Fr Tim O’Driscoll in 2010.

Fr Reggie Gillooly C.S.Sp. celebrates his 100th birthday.

A native of Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin and a past-pupil of the local CBS, Fr Reggie (pictured in 2022, with Fr Martin Kelly C.S.Sp. at the Covid-delayed celebration of the 70th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood), spent over 50 years in The Gambia. Having first arrive in the West African country by ship in 1952, he served in a variety of educational, pastoral and administrative roles, and had a long association with The Catholic Bookshop which sourced and imported educational and liturgical supplies, making them available at cost.

Fr Reggie continued to do part-time telephone receptionist duties in Kimmage Manor into his mid-nineties. He moved to Nazareth House nursing home in 2023.
