Three Spiritans who joined the Congregation in 1960 were recently reunited in Kimmage for the funeral of Fr Vincent Browne C.S.Sp. who had been with them in their novitiate year. Pictured, they are (L-R) Fr Pat Doody, Fr Pat Downes and Fr Paul Walsh.
Both Fr Doody and Fr Walsh spent many years in overseas mission, including in Kenya. Fr Downes served in the home mission.
Today Fr Downes remains part of the Spiritan community attached to Rockwell College, the Co. Tipperary school which counts both Fr Doody and Fr Walsh among its past pupils.
Spiritan communities in Ireland are also attached to two other school campuses, in Dublin’s Blackrock and Rathmines, and to Kimmage Manor in Dublin, which hosts the Provincial Office, as well as to Ardbraccan in Co. Meath which hosts the Spiritan Spirituality & Retreat Centre.
