On 19th March 2025 around 7,000 native Irish trees – including Birch, Blackthorn, Crab Apple, Hazel and Oak – were planted across three mini-forests attached to the Spiritan Retreat & Spirituality Centre in Ardbraccan as part of ‘The 100 million Trees Project’.
Using the well-established Miyawaki method, excess trees are planted together, creating faster growth and greatly increased density, enhancing bio-diversity significantly and facilitating a very rapid carbon sink.
On the day, the extended Ardbraccan community was joined by professionals from this national, not–for–profit project which aims to plant native Irish trees across the island of Ireland over the next decade, helping amongst other things to mitigate carbon dioxide output.
