Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God

Our readings today remind us of the joy that Mary experienced by being open to the will of the Lord. She was afraid but she trusted in the Lord.

When I became a mother, I didn’t know what that role would entail. I had the loving presence of my husband and, because we both had faith, we believed and trusted that all would be okay.

We gave ourselves to the adventure and through the struggles we welcomed the increasing presence of the Lord in our lives. We found joy in leaving our concerns to the Lord.

Like Mary we didn’t know what the future held for us but we lived our lives in faith hope and love, and the Lord has truly blessed us and our family.

Amen
