and love. We see from the readings the idea of sovereignty. We read in Daniel “his sovereignty shall never pass away” and Psalm 93 praises the great power of God who is king.

A Reflection for the Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (14th November 2021)
ncis has designated as World Day of the Poor, Jesus says a strange thing. He says that “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.” Christianity and many other religions have a concept of a place to which we will go after death. We Christians call it Heaven. But in today's Gospel Jesus tells us that Heaven also will pass away!

Why do we do the things that we do? All sorts of people in the bible do all sorts of things – good and not so good. When we help others, do we do it: out of guilt, for show, to be seen and to elevate ourselves in others’ eyes? Is it to increase our social status and, in the eyes of our community, to be ‘a great person who…’? Or is it to genuinely help?
