One of two* Irish Spiritans who are currently serving in Asia, Fr Pat Palmer (pictured) is Rector of the Spiritan Theology Community in the Philippines.

Currently the community has a total of sixteen students. One is from Kenya, two are from Tanzania and the rest are from Vietnam. In late 2023 three were ordained deacons while three others were ordained to the priesthood and have since been appointed, one each to The Gambia, the USA and Vietnam.

Fr Brian McLaughlin was one of the international group of Spiritans whose work led to the setting- up of a Spiritan presence in the Philippines. Fr Amandus Kapele, who is now part of the Greenhills parish team in Dublin 12, and Fr Edward Flynn, a member of the Spiritan community that is attached to the offices of Spirasi in Dublin 12, have both served in the Philippines.

 Fr Seán O’Leary is Provincial of the Spiritans in Taiwan. A number of other Irish Spiritans have served in Pakistan.
