Holy Ghost Mission Boxes were first used in Ireland in the 1930s. In the early 1950s they began to be distributed widely around the country, primarily to family-owned shops, chemists and pubs. A total of seven Spiritans of the Irish Province died in 2022. They were Jim Byrnes, Kevin Corrigan, Hugh Fagan, Patrick J. Kelly, Augustine Lindsay, Michael Reynolds and James Stapleton.
On Saturday 4th June 2022 some thirty Spiritan missionaries marked the Silver, Golden or Diamond Jubilees of their Ordination to the priesthood.
